1. General information

a) Why using DosMENU(TM) and not an other BootSelector

DosMENU(TM) provides you with the abilities of no other BootSelector.
If you experience the functions of DosMENU(TM) then you won't ever
use any other BootSelector than mine. Few improvements in contrast
to other Selectors: Choosing while booting, MODPlayer, Picture
Display, 10 Saveable Presets (Full Version only) and a friendly User-
interface. Test DosMENU(TM) now and enjoy the great utility. :-)

This program is ShareWare, this means: If you use this program
regularly you have to register the program as soon as possible

As allready sayed in the upper passage, the registered version
also supports saveable Presets, where you can save your favoured
setup to select them at a later time without setting it up all the
time you need it. You also be informed when a new version is ready
and you get a free update. Please help the ShareWareConcept and
register DosMENU(TM) now.

SkyLINE is a group of people who want to make PC-life easier. :-)
To get more information about SkyLINE and their products read

2. First Steps of DosMENU(TM)

a) Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Installation of DosMENU(TM) is very easy. Use INSTALL.EXE
on your Install-Disks. Now follow the instructions on the screen.
Please only distribute the Installationdisks, because the
installprogram sets the DosMENU(TM)-Enviroments after the Hardware-
and Softwareconfiguration.

3. Usage

a) The Mainscreen
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Basic Controls

First of all you should run DosMENU(TM) once to see the Mainscreen.
On this screen you see:
On the left : - Copyright Notice
- Time
- Date
- Picture Displayed at beginning
- Module played at the time
- DoubleSpace Status (see also 3b Key U)
- Autoload program
- Presetnames (F1-F10)
In the middle: autoexec.bat commands
On the right : config.sys commands
The highlighted commands in the middle and right window are copied
into an autoexec.bat or config.sys while booting. This way you
can boot your system as you want at the first boot. In the
registered version you have also the ability to save your favoured
configurtions. A good argument to register now. After setting your
configuration for the startup press [ESC] and you can work with
your configuration. The next boot DosMENU(TM) automatically starts
up again.
- Enhanced functions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I included also some enhanced functions, because my friend
M.H/SkyLINE over and over again came with new ideas. So I
included the time and date wishes and so on. I also wanted
to configure the whole program from the program itself.
You can enter new commands while booting. Read 3b for more
Info about the edit commands. The MODplayer is from Mark
J Cox. Sorry I don't asked you to use it, but I found it on
a CD and used it. The PCX-Routine is from S.S.A, but not
written by him, only swaped sources.

4. DosMENU(TM) add-on programs

a) The DosMENU(TM) Fast Reset (DM_RESET.EXE)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fast Reset is a little utility which uses the same bootroutine
as DosMENU(TM). On most systems it won't work while working,
although it works while booting, but on my machine it works
always if EMM386 is installed. Check it on your system and
when it hangs don't use it anymore. :-(
b) The DosMENU(TM) Configuration Viewer (DM_SHOW.EXE)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Configuration Viewer shows you the current saveable Preset Name,
nothing less and nothing more.
c) The DosMENU-Logo(TM) Ansi-Viewer (DM_ANSI.EXE)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DosMENU-Logo(TM) Ansi-Viewer shows you the logo on the top
of this document in a coloured version. Thats all.
5. Uninstallation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Uninstallation is much easier than installation, so be sure
if you really want to uninstall DosMENU(TM). We advise you not
to uninstall it, because you won't found a better BootSelector. :-)
Nevertheless if you want to uninstall run UNSTALL.EXE and
follow the instructions. To install it again do it the same as
the first time.
6. Frequently asked questions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: DosMENU(TM) doesn't continue when I exit. Why?
A: You must have no other programs staying in Memory before DosMENU(TM).
I know a guy who has an Yankee Doodle Virus in his System and
DM locked. I cleaned the machine and now DM is running as before.

I try to write something like a revision. First of all I must
tell you that I began to write DosMENU(TM) in summer 1993. If your
good at maths you will see that it was developed in over a year.
First I made a very loosy program and I don't liked it. So I began
again from nothing. I developed a new User-Interface called
SkyLINE-Bench(TM), which was first used in SkyLINE Shell. After some
improvements to the interface DosMENU(TM) looked really good. So now
